1.11.11

Today is our 14th year wedding anniversary.

I have planned for lunch at Equinox and thereafter a memorable visit to St. Andrew's Cathedral to recap the wedding exactly 14 years back...

I am awaken now at 6am. Scary enough, that was the time I needed to be awaken to get ready for the BIG Day! (Oh, not to mention I was just 25 years of age and Edwin at 27). I woke up to get ready for the make-up and hairdo, waiting for Edwin to arrive, the ah yees' (I had many then including my 5 sisters) sabotage on the bridegroom, Edwin clearing it with a song finale trembling (yes, he really trembled), tea ceremony, wedding solemnisation at Cathedral at 11am with more than 700 guests, lunch reception, tea ceremony at his parents' house, back to hotel, get the make-up ready again for dinner, dinner reception for 60 tables, back to hotel to count the ang paos collected to see if we had covered all the expenditures! What a day? How romantic can it get? We stayed at the Mandarin Orchard Hotel then and the next day was Sunday and guess what? We even went back to Cathedral for the 7.30pm service.

What did I most remembered that day? As I am thinking, the thought flashed back to Edwin and myself kneeling before God after the solemnisation to take the holy communion! Yes! That was the significant moment on 1.11.97! Kneeling before our Father, with Him at the centre of our Holy Matrimony was indeed the most rewarding as I looked back 14 years on...

Why was it so? With Him in the centre, His presence in our midst all the time, we have emerged more than conquerers in our marriage! We have survived the last 14 years with flying colors I must say! And our marriage is still growing strong! There is really nothing I can complain actually... But standing in awe to witness what He had provided for our family all these years and the journey we have been through thus far. His love never fails although we can be so unfaithful!

Thank you Father! Thank you again for this beautiful day! Thank you for watching over us these 14 years and strengthening our marriage life! And blessing us with beautiful girls!

Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Yes indeed! Like I will have no idea how the day will be? But I am sure with Jesus, it will be beautiful!

Happy Anniversary Edwin and Julie!!

PS: Actually the other thought that flashes across my reflection was the 3 weeks honeymoon in America and the Caribbean cruise, hmm... I wonder when is my Father rewarding us again? Thank you Daddy in advance :-)
